Anna Throne-Holst was the 2016 Democratic nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives for New York's 1st Congressional District, but lost in the general election.
Throne-Holst has a master’s degree in public administration and international affairs. She co-founded the Hayground School and was the director of the Bridgehampton Child Care Center. She also previously worked at the U.N. Department of Peacekeeping.
In 2007, Throne-Holst was elected to the Southampton (New York) Town Board and in 2009, she was elected as town supervisor. She chose not to run for re-election in 2015 in order to run for Congress.
